Lasperanza is the brainchild of UK producer/musician Rico Garofalo, with a debut album ” Seeds”, set for Release in May 2019 on Dome Records. Ever since he became a professional sax player Rico has dreamed of making an album of inventively reimagined versions of soul songs he grew up with in the Eighties when listening to Radio-Legends like Robbie Vincent, Greg Edwards, John Leech, Tony Monson and Jeff Young.
The lead single is a sultry mid-tempo treatment of Gwen Guthrie’s “It Should Have Been You”, with the delicious vocals of Izzy Chase. Rico’s Mission? “I didn’t want to do straightforward covers. I wanted to change the arrangements, be it from a rhythmic or harmonic aspect, sometimes both, while always keeping soul/jazz flavour”.
The album features nine different vocalists, including Keni Stevens and DeCosta Boyce.
