Music has been running through my veins for as long as I can remember. My Dad has been in numerous bands over the years; I’d often find myself immersed in his vinyl collection and love of loud music while starting to hone my passion for hip-hop, boogie and disco and dance music.
I first started DJing in 1989, inspired by the acid house and early hardcore sounds, starting to DJ was something I longed to do. Within my first year of Djing, I played all over East Anglia at clubs such as Hyperbolic, Pleasure Zone, Pulse, Intense, and several illegal raves including the infamous Bees Knees. His enthusiasm and passion for music and the scene earned me a weekly residency with Hyperbolic every Friday playing raves but soon started turning my attention to House music. I would play a broad spectrum of genres, hard house, trance, some techno and US House and Garage. The latter where I would eventually settle. With the Norwich club scene well underway in the mid-’90s, I was lucky enough to land a prestigious residency with Milky Lunch. I was playing alongside some of the world’s finest DJs including Sasha, Marshall Jefferson, Danny Rampling and Boy George.
Things began to grow; I was playing regularly for Miss Moneypennys at the UEA, Norwich and their Birmingham home Bonds and Canal Club. By the end of the 1990s, I was playing several gigs every weekend, all over the country for some of the best clubs around. I loved playing Progress, Club UK, Temptation at the Whitehouse, Slinky, The Gallery at Turnmills, Gods Kitchen, Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound tours and Renaissance Nottingham. I kept his local interests alive too, securing regular work with Dance Paradise and the then fledgeling promotion Pams House. I was also resident for events at the UEA, Norwich whenever a big tour was in town.
In 1999 I became a resident for Universe. Universe is famous for the pioneering dance festivals which spawned Tribal Gathering. My residency with Universe set me up to play on the Universe show on Atlantic 252, Music Choice on Sky every Friday to a global audience, and play on a UK tour promoting the film ‘Sorted’. The UK Tour was fantastic. I played alongside Carl Cox, Danny Howells, Lisa Loud, Timo Maas and Terry Farley to name a few! The highlight of the tour was Djing at the star-studded glittering premier party at London’s Brown’s nightclub. This gig got me a fantastic residency at China White in London, playing house every Sunday night. I managed to land a weekly residency Djing live on TV with Rapture TV for the clubbing show Trainspotters. What an experience playing live to a studio audience as the show was broadcast around Europe and repeated on ITV every Thursday! I’m one of the original residents and co-promoters for Soulshaker, the finest house night in the East.
This residency brought about a partnership with Soul Heaven, bringing the brand to the city. My involvement with Soul Heaven grew over the years, ultimately helping the brand’s digital output and starting the hugely successful Soul Heaven Radio. As one of the Soul Heaven residents, I’ve been privileged to play some amazing clubs and radio gigs across the globe including: Unknown FM, Flight FM, Flex FM, Ibiza Radio 1, Miami WMC, Savannah Ibiza, Enigma Ibiza, Soulfinity Radio, NYC House Radio, Pacha, Ibiza Global Radio, Sonica Radio, Egg, Soul Heaven Norwich, Area Watford, Sundown Festival, MoS Radio, Tulp Ibiza, Hotel Es Vivé, Inhalar, resident for Rooftop 9 at Sol House, and O Beach Ibiza for the last 5 years. Doing alongside some of the finest in the industry is amazing. I’ve played alongside Grant Nelson, Kenny Dope, Danny Rampling, Sandy Rivera, The Reflex, Melvo Baptiste, Groove Assassin, Natasha Kitty Katt, Neil Pierce, Mike Risk and The Legendary Paul Trouble Anderson. I’m also one of the residents and producer for The Soul Heaven Show on Mi-House Radio – something the SH team can’t wait to get stuck into! Production work is forthcoming too. I have several dozen track to finish with early support from Groove Assassin and DJ Romain.
