About Ian

I performed my first professional gig in 1981 when I was 14 years old. People always say to me that I am too young to know the Soul and Jazz Funk of the 70s and early 80s, but to be honest I grew up with it: My older Sister was a bit of a Soul Head and would spend her money on 12” imports which she used to bring home and play to death – and that’s where I got the bug!

Now days I am known as Glossy or DJ-Gloss

I love music!! Period. But I love Soul, Jazz Funk and Reggae most. For me the DJs of my youth and the people I looked up to were Greg Edwards, Robbie Vincent, David Rodigan and Tony Williams. These shows were the ones I waited up or stayed at home for with my Sharp 9595 plugged firmly in the mains and a couple of Blank TDK’s to hand. Little did I know then that I would grow up and meet and even DJ alongside my Idols.

My mobile sound system went under the name ‘Sound Fusion’. It was nowhere near as famous as some of the big South London Sound Systems, but not for want of trying!”

“Now 30 odd years later, I am still playing tunes most Friday and Saturday nights and have the great privilege of broadcasting live on Sound Fusion Radio. A station that I founded myself which produces quality Radio shows from DJ’s who are free to play music from their hearts. Trust me, such privilege is a rare thing in broadcasting!

I have Presented the Breakfast Show on a few stations and on Sound Fusion Radio my Breakfast Show is in its 4th year. I love to support and promote new music from Independent Artists producing Music of Black Origin “MoBO” Genres.

I Love to Mix and I also Present a Soulful / Funky House Show Called Nugroovin’ which is my own brand.

I love big bass lines, big sound systems, and I love to boogie.
